Production Technician and Sound Engineer.
Primarily a Sound Engineer, but multi-skilled and able to assist most departments, work has included setup and operation of sound, lighting, power, video, truss/support structures and staging; as well as show technical management.
Familiar with both analogue and most digital consoles, mixing live, corporate and theatre are all regular activities. Most experienced with Yamaha consoles (CL, QL, M7, PM5 and LS9) but versed in Midas, Soundcraft and SSL. I am just as happy running monitors as FoH, and can mix any genre band, working to each artists unique style.
As an RF Technician looking after Radio Mics and In Ear Monitors (IEMs) I am familiar with Sennheiser and Shure transmitters and receivers, and with DPA microphones. As part of this I conform to site and temporary RF licences to maximise performance, minimise interferance and stay within the law.
Experienced in designing, setting up, and tuning systems in anything from a small pub, through to 3000 person halls. I am most familiar with d&b Audiotechnik PA having designed, installed and tuned numerous Y, Q, J and E series systems over a 5 year period. Completely fluent in use of ArrayCalc, NoiseCalc and R1 Remote software to make maximum use of all features. First and foremost a theatre lighting designer, with occasional lighting design for live, colour and form are prevalent themes in any Will Lay design.
Capable of independently operating and programming any of the ETC Eos family consoles (Element, Ion, Gio, Eos Ti) designs for theatrical or corporate shows can be designed, rigged, programmed and operated.

Temporary power system design, including adequate protection and cable specification.
Video infrastructure and output for Live and Theatre. Familiar with QLab and Resolume Arena for content control and mapping.
From initial ideas and consultation, through to specification and mamangement on the day. CAD plans and show paperwork can all be produced if required.
